Hello
Kyle here..
I've been playing drums for 15 years in a variety of different styles.
Since graduating with a BA in Music in 2016 I have been enjoying a life of teaching, writing, studio recording and performing across the country with my bands, Retro Video Club and Slow Karma.
I've always had a great passion for teaching, and in 2023 I opened Leith Drum Studio, a space where drummers can develop their skills through practical based learning in a relaxed environment.
Whether you're picking up sticks for the first time, learning your favourite songs, practicing for an exam or looking to expand your knowledge and become more creative behind the drum kit, every lesson is tailored to suit you.
About Me
I started playing the drums when I was 14 and was playing in my first band a year later. My love for music came from my Mum who raised me on a healthy diet of rock, pop and dance music. After high school I moved to Edinburgh to study for my popular music and performance degree. Through my studies I fell in love with Funk and Jazz music but most importantly, I found my own style.
After graduating I've been writing and touring with my bands, Retro Video Club and Slow Karma, across the UK and played at some bucket list festivals such as TRNSMT and Kendal Calling and in some amazing venues, Glasgows O2 Academy and Edinburgh's Liquid Rooms. I've also opened for bands such as The Kooks and The View.
I have recorded drums for a number or artists, sometimes recording remotely from my studio in Leith.
I have such a great passion teaching and it's an honour to be a part of someone's journey behind the drum kit.
LDS students proudly hold a 100% pass rate with Trinity and Rockschool graded exams and some have gone on to study music at uni and perform across the country with their own bands.
